A FRIEND

Noah Websters 1828 Dictionary defines it as this;

Friend:

1. One who is attached to another by affection: one who entertains for another sentiments of esteem, respect and affection, which lead him to desire his company, and to seek to promote his happiness and prosperity; opposed to foe or enemy.

I read the definition over and over and thought to myself, "Have I been a friend? Do I have any friends?"

I found I have used the term friend to loosely in the past and considered people to be friends who turned out only friendly, usually during fair weather.

Have you had someone who has always been there your whole life? Someone who you believe, now, will be there till their dying day? When you have an idea or a new project, they sit down and plan it out with you and ask how they can help? If so, you are blessed.

I have found friends are rare.

Prov 17:17
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Prov 18:24
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Prov 27:9
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.

Prov 27:17
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

I thank God that I not only have the Lord Jesus Christ, but I have some friends here on earth.

There have been a few who have stuck for years and years.

Thank you,

Jeff,
Larry,
Tracy,
Pat,
Dan,
Sue,
Dawn,
Kelly,
Andrea,
Bruce,

and

Dad, you've been there the longest, obviosly. I pray I can be half as good a friend as you. You have been an excellent example that I will do my best to follow till my last breath.

God bless you.

I would take a bullet for you.
